    Handy pytest snippets

I seem to spend 90% of my time these days writing Python tests. Which one could argue is how it should be, but whatever.

    DynamoDB Keys for Beginners

I have never used DynamoDB before, I am a proper relational database person, but I have recently had to get into a (very simple) No-SQL db setup and there are some things that are quite different to a proper database, namely keys and indexes.

Remote Working Review - Month One(ish)

I started working (almost) full time remote at the start of January. It's been two full months now, thought I'm not sure the first month really counts, so I thought it would be a good time to reflect on how it's going.

PHP Patterns Part 1 - Repository Pattern

As I do more work at new work, I expect I will come across a few of these patterns that I don't know about. Short People Problems

As an exactly average height person, I have always struggled in jobs to find a comfortable way to work. Desks are always too high, chairs are too low, monitors never adjust enough... My 'Simple' Life - Morning Routine

I am a big believer in "work smarter not harder", hence why I am a programmer - and a Python programmer at that. If I have to do a job more than once you can guarantee there will be a little script for it somewhere. The same works for real life - I have standard routines for anything I find myself doing regularly. Removing thought and decision making from boring everyday tasks in theory leaves more space for my poor brain to think about more fun and complicated things like optimising SQL and why my photo uploader is giving me a bazillion 500 errors.
